Beau Photo Fusion 2011

The best $10 I have spent in a long time was today when I attended the trade show, Fusion 2011. It was put on by my favorite Vancouver camera outfitter, Beau Photo. I could have spent a bomb at the Cinevate booth. They have some sexy gear! I was impressed that most of their gear is made in Canada, too. I also ran into some old friends from Beau Photo and other shooters, like friend and mentor Phil Hersee. I met North Vancouver photographer Melissa Welsh who was running the Image Quest booth and did a great job selling me on the next weekend they are putting on! I'll be attending now. Dates are March 20th to 22nd in Richmond. Further info can be found on their site, http://www.imagequestbc.com

I was impressed by the work of Kevin Shahinian of Pacific Pictures Studios of Huntington Beach, CA. He is a great speaker, too.

But what I really wanted...was a RadioPopper JrX System! I anticipated coming home with this as I have been following RadioPopper since they birthed the idea on Strobist and started sharing their dream on the blog. It brings a smile to my face seeing the success of these handy tools and I'm sure looking forward to going wireless ttl with RadioPopper. Hopefully Beau Photo has them in within the month as I prefer to shop locally when I can.

Keep your head up and attend next year. With the convergence of stills to video, I can see this annual event growing quickly! Whether you use it for stills or video, I suggest the Fusion event to everyone.

In Memory of The 100 Whistler Sled Dogs

I'm beyond words. The news of the recent slaughtered 100 sled dogs in Whistler, BC deeply saddens and disgusts me. I photographed The Bootleg Sled Dog Races and and post them here in their memory.
